I Am My Own Wife is a 90 minute production where one actor plays 36 different characters.

This play, written by Doug Wright, won the 2004 Pulitzer Prize (Drama).

I Am My Own Wife has not been performed a lot outside the USA however a successful and critically acclaimed performance debuted in November 2017 and the same team are bringing the story back again this year through Pocket Productions.

The story of Charlotte's life is rich. A gay transvestite, living with the backdrop of first Nazi Germany, then Communist East Berlin. Charlotte was a symbol of resistance to oppression of minorities during her own lifetime, but was a controversial figure once the wall came down. We see her life through the eyes of many characters, not the least of which is Charlotte herself.
