Walcha is set to come alive with colour and community pride as the 2025 Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour makes its grand stop in town on Friday 15 August. From school visits to a vibrant street parade, a community afternoon, and an elegant evening reception, the day will be packed with unforgettable moments, and you are invited to be part of it!

Don’t miss the Street Parade!
The magic begins at 2:30pm, as local schoolchildren dressed in jockey silks lead a colourful community parade through the streets of Walcha. At the heart of it all? The iconic Lexus Melbourne Cup trophy, on proud display aboard a horse and cart with none other than horse trainer royalty, Sheila Laxon.

Celebrate at McHattan Park – Community Afternoon (from 3:30pm)
Following the parade, everyone is invited to gather at McHattan Park for a relaxed community gathering filled with stories, speeches, and photo opportunities with the Lexus Melbourne Cup. Hear from Sheila Laxon and a representative from the Victoria Racing Club, and experience the magic of seeing the iconic Cup up close. It is a wonderful moment for families, friends, and fans to come together.

Evening Civic Reception & Auction – Walcha Bowling Club (from 6pm)
Cap off the day in style at the Walcha Bowling Club for a ticketed civic reception featuring guest speakers, a short clip showing the "Making of the Cup", and the presentation of the Breeders’ Cup to Norm and Di Bazeley, proud breeders of Knight’s Choice (2024 Lexus Melbourne Cup winner). The evening includes a cocktail-style canapé dinner and a community auction supporting local not-for-profits.
