THE ARTISTS:
Both local to Walcha;
Stephen King is a renowned sculptor and artist in the Australian art scene. It should also be noted that Stephen has been instrumental, from inception, in the creation and growth of Walcha's Open Air Gallery of Sculptures and Artworks. It is largely through his incredible level of generosity, of both time and contribution, that Walcha has this magnificent asset which 'punches above its weight' - once described as one of Australia's most art-friendly towns by well known Australian art critic John McDonald,

Mosaic, depicting an eclectic stream of water and life.

The artwork plaques for works were made possible by the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR)’s
Strengthening Rural Communities Program, supported by Arts North West.
We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the Walcha region and recognise their continuing connection to land, water and community. We pay respect to Elders – past, present and emerging – of the Dunghutti nation, and acknowledge the important role Indigenous Peoples continue to play within our community.
