FRIDAY is Walcha Cup day, one of Country NSW’s largest race meets in the way of prize money, attracting a field of high calibre horses, trainers and jockeys, therefore enticing large crowds to be part of all the excitement. Enjoy a champagne, cold beer or something softer under the Elm trees shading the concourse, soak up the atmosphere with the judging of the glamorous Fashions of the Field entrants while trying your luck with the bookies – having a dabble on the horses.
SATURDAY is another great day of racing which is more casual and family focused with free children’s activities, rides and face-painting. The children’s Fashions of the Field is also held on Saturday with some very cute entrants. The Lions Footrace, has become a popular Saturday tradition where both female and male entrants have to run the racecourse circuit, it is observed with an eager eye of onlookers cheering home the runners.
