Celebrate Australia Day with a relaxed, family-friendly morning in the park.
7:30am - Breakfast in the Park, served by local Walcha service clubs, featuring bacon, eggs, sausages, damper, tea and coffee.
Cost: Breakfast $10 per person / $20 per family (cash only).
Enjoy live music by Peter Law, bush poetry from Gordon Edmonds, children’s art and craft activities, and a Quota raffle with a $100 Walcha shopping voucher to be won.
8:45am - Official Ceremony, including the raising of the Australian flag by the Walcha Fire Brigade, an address by Australia Day Ambassador Jane Rutter, and the presentation of Citizenship Awards.
Jane Rutter is an internationally acclaimed Australian-French flautist, renowned for her expressive style and commitment to bringing music into communities across Australia.

Two great Days of Racing in Walcha and one of the best country race meetings around.
Friday
Friday Cup Day will include full TAB meet and bar facilities, food and beverage options and Fashions on the Field competition.
All those entering the racecourse on Friday will be required to present their online purchased ticket or hold a current membership.
Saturday
Free entry.
Family Day with face painting, jumping castle, ice creams, Kids Fashions on the Field competition, and the famous Foot Race around the Racecourse is not to be missed.

Get ready for a big weekend as this much-loved event returns bigger and better than ever.
Friday 13 February kicks off activities with the popular tractor run, bringing tractors and colour to the streets of Walcha on a scenic route of approximately 65km.
Saturday 14 February is Family Day, starting with a town tour through Walcha’s main streets, followed by a full day of activities at the Walcha Showgrounds. Enjoy entertainment for all ages, including a jumping castle, barrel train, tractor pull, machinery demonstrations, sawmill, swap meet and much more.
Sunday 15 February continues the action with tractor pulls, swap meet and further machinery demonstrations.
A great weekend for families, visitors and tractor enthusiasts alike.

Learn the technique of traditional Hardanger embroidery from Norway, with this beautiful Hardanger band at a weekend workshop in Walcha, with the Whitework Queen herself, Yvette Stanton.
In this class you will learn the basics of Hardanger embroidery, including stitches such as satin stitch, eyelets, cable stitch, four-sided stitch, cutting threads, woven bars and dove's eye filling stitch. The project is worked in pearl cotton thread on 28 count linen. This is a beginner's class, so if you've never done it before, this class is for you, and even if you have done Hardanger before, you're welcome to join in!

Visitors and locals are invited to step back in time and enjoy a relaxed evening of music, dancing and community at the Nowendoc Country Dance Revival.
The night will feature live old-time music by Kevin McDonald and Peter Hicks, perfect for toe-tapping, social dancing and a great country atmosphere.
A sausage sizzle will be available from 6pm for $3, and guests are encouraged to bring a plate to share for supper. This is a family-friendly event, with a lucky door prize to be drawn on the night.

Frisian whitework comes from Friesland in the Netherlands. Frisian whitework samplers often featured alphabet letters in varying sizes and styles, large and small spot motifs, and designs for bands.
Learn the technique of Frisian whitework, making the Dutch Heart Sampler at a weekend workshop in Walcha, with internationally renowned whitework expert, Yvette Stanton.
In this class you will learn the basics of Frisian whitework, including stitches such as satin stitch (regular and diagonal), eyelets (single and clustered), whipped backstitch, topwinder stitch and chain stitch. The project is worked in pearl cotton thread on 28 count linen. All levels of proficiency are welcome, but experience with counted thread work is an advantage.
