Mirani Airstrip
"Marmindi"
359 Mirani Road
Walcha NSW 2354
Celebrate a landmark moment in Australian agricultural history — the 75th anniversary of the first aerial spreading of superphosphate in Australia!
In 1950, Mr A.S. “Poss” Nivison made history on Mirani by pioneering this groundbreaking farming practice, earning the region its nickname: Pasture Wonderland.
Visit the original Mirani airstrip for a static display showcasing aerial agriculture through the years. There will be a Tiger Moth, Cessna 180, Beaver and Cresco aeroplanes, a Hopper collection, memorabilia, and historical photographs, as well as a Fleet helicopter.
A sausage sizzle will be available, hosted by the Walcha Lions Club.
Afterwards, don’t miss the chance to see the original Tiger Moth aeroplane at the Walcha & District Historical Society Museum (open 9am–4pm).
